VISIT TO SINGAPORE
ED HUSIC MP
I will be in Singapore this week, following an invitation to participate in the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship.

Established in 1991, the Fellowship helps build stronger regional relationships based on common areas of interest and activity.

While here, I’ll be meeting with a range of government and public sector officials to learn more about Singapore’s pathways to future economic development, including the ways it supports skills development in the face of rising automation and technological change.

In addition to this I look forward to briefings on the Singaporean government’s approach to digital transformation and its investment in national approaches to innovation.

I’ll also be visiting a number of Australian and global businesses investing in early stage innovation and technology to help build sustainable, durable businesses and job opportunities.

I strongly believe there’s far greater scope for Australia to work collaboratively with its South East Asia partners - particularly with our friends in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia - to create a better environment for new firms and jobs to emerge regionally.
