GRANTS TO SUPPORT QUEENSLAND PRIMARY PRODUCERS
Michael Keenan MP
Minister for Justice, Michael Keenan today announced additional disaster assistance for primary producers in parts of Bundaberg affected by severe weather in October.
Minister Keenan said the assistance is being provided to Queensland through the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).
"This activation of assistance is in addition to concessional interest rate loans and freight subsidies already being offered to primary producers in the area to ensure they have the support they need following this disaster," Mr Keenan said.
"Today's assistance will ensure eligible primary producers in the severely impacted parts of Bundaberg can access grants of up to $25,000 to help with their clean-up and recovery costs."
"This severe weather has impacted production beyond the current season in some cases. Over 60 per cent of vegetable and cane growers in the Bundaberg local government area have suffered crop losses and damage to farming infrastructure."
"Today's announcement demonstrates the Government's continued commitment to supporting primary producers and the people of Queensland."
