TURNBULL MUST END HIS MEDICARE FREEZE ON JANUARY 1
CATHERINE KING MP
Turnbull must fully drop his Medicare freeze on January 1 – or Australians will start 2018 continuing to pay more every time they visit a GP or specialist.

Australians are bearing the brunt of Turnbull’s disgraceful failure to properly invest in health and drop the freeze.

Turnbull is yet to drop any part of his Medicare freeze, and he is so out-of-touch with the health needs of Australians that he won’t fully lift the freeze until 2020.

This is a cut to the pockets of patients every time they visit a GP, every time they visit a specialist and every time they receive a Medicare allied health service.

The day before the election, Turnbull promised Australians that they wouldn’t pay more to see a GP. This was a lie, and out-of-pocket costs are higher than ever.

As a result of his freeze, Turnbull is cutting $2.2 billion out of Medicare over the next four years – on top of the savings he has already banked.

We know Turnbull doesn’t care about health but the least he can do for vulnerable and sick Australians is to start 2018 right and drop his entire Medicare freeze.
