SEEKING ORGANISATIONS TO HELP MATURE AGE AUSTRALIANS INTO WORK

The Australian Government today announced that requests for proposals (RFP) will be open from tomorrow for organisations to deliver its Career Transition Assistance (CTA) Trial to mature age people looking for work.

CTA will offer crucial services for mature age people who find themselves out of work. This includes tailored career assistance, which will be delivered face-to-face and help participants become more competitive.

It will also include digital literacy training, with a focus on increasing participant’s confidence using technology in the workplace.

CTA will be trialled in five regions — Ballarat (Vic), Somerset (Qld), Central West (NSW), Adelaide (SA) and Perth North (WA) — before its national rollout in July 2020.

This trial was a key measure in the Government’s $110 million Mature Age Employment package announced in last year’s Budget.

Minister for Jobs and Innovation, Michaelia Cash, said the trial will create opportunities for those aged over 50 to re-enter the workforce, ensuring their valuable skills are not lost.

“We know many mature age Australians are keen to keep working. This investment will identify where they need assistance and help them with the skills they need to get back into the workforce,” Minister Cash said.

“I encourage organisations to submit their proposal to help deliver the trial. We’re after organisations with strong coaching skills and excellent local labour market knowledge.”

“We recognise the immense capacity and willingness of mature age Australians to contribute and understand the need to provide tailored support so they can get back into the workforce.”

“It’s also important for our economy to ensure that mature age Australians who still want to work are given every chance to do so because their contribution and experience is invaluable.”

Interested organisations can attend information sessions during the RFP period, which closes at midday on 19 February 2018.
