MALCOLM TURNBULL TURNS HIS BACK ON SMALL BUSINESS
CHRIS BOWEN MP

The latest Sensis Business Indexconfirms what business owners at the coalface have known for some time – Malcolm Turnbull is nothing but hot air when it comes to backing small businesses.

The Business Index highlights that small business support for the Liberals’ policy agenda is fading, with growing cynicism in the sector.

The report finds: “SMBs with a negative view were most critical of the Federal Government’s focus on big business.”

While many small businesses are struggling to get off the ground, Malcolm Turnbull’s only ‘business’ policy is his $65b unfunded tax giveaway to big business and protecting tax concessions for the wealthiest Australians.

This Prime Minister has his priorities all wrong. Instead of supporting small businesses to grow and creating more jobs, he is shamelessly pushing ahead with company tax cuts for the big end of town.

Turnbull has failed small business at every turn, demonstrated by his Government’s lack of investment in skills and TAFE, a second-rate NBN and soaring energy prices.

With nearly half of all Australians who are employed in the private sector working in our small business sector, it’s time Malcolm Turnbull stopped favouring the big end of town.

Australian small businesses deserve better and they will only get that from a Shorten Labor Government.
