The Turnbull Government is doubling down on its disgraceful approach to the future of our public hospitals, with reports it will attempt to bribe and blackmail the states and territories into signing up to an inferior deal at tomorrow’s COAG meeting.

 

This is an appalling and arrogant way to negotiate hospital funding.

 

Turnbull’s pathetic bribe is proof he knows he is offering a lousy deal that will lock in seven years of hospital cuts.

 

The experts have been clear – our public hospitals are struggling and current funding levels are not good enough:

 

Elective surgery waiting times have blown out, our emergency departments are straining and health professionals are stretched to do more and more with less and less because of the Liberals.

Cutting Medicare, cutting public hospitals and failing to stand up to the big profit health insurers - Turnbull can never be trusted on health.
