JOYCE’S MIND NOT ON HIS DAY JOB - IT’S TIME FOR TURNBULL TO END THIS SAGA
STEPHEN JONES MP
Over $500 million in government funded regional projects are on hold because the National Party is distracted with its internal turmoil.
This is not about the Deputy Prime Minister’s private life. It’s about the delivery of critical projects in regional communities.
It’s time the Prime Minister step in to end the farce.
The Coalition must fix:
The $272 million Regional Growth Fund, designed to fund critical projects in regional Australia, but after 270 days has not delivered any guidelines, money or jobs.
The $220 Regional Jobs and Investment Packages where 10 were promised in 2016 but so far only 2 packages delivered.
The agency plans for decentralisation, to be released last year, but still with no plan and continued job cuts.
With three Ministers for Regional Development in three months, key decisions for regional Australia are not being made.
This is about the competence and delivery of Government, particularly, their failure to deliver for regional Australia.
The delays in delivering critical regional funding is seriously undermining confidence in regional communities.
This cannot continue. Turnbull has to act and act today.
These distractions are hurting Australia’s regional economic development.
It’s time for the Deputy Prime Minister to step aside. If he won’t, then the Prime Minister must act.
