TURNBULL TAX TO HURT FAMILIES

Reports in today’s paper have highlighted the impact of the Turnbull Government’s hidden 10 per cent child care tax.

The Turnbull Government’s hidden 10 per cent tax on families was finally exposed at Senate Estimates, revealing they do not expect families to be able to decipher their complicated new income and activity tests.

 

July will be a rude shock to those families expecting more support. Those who thought they would be receiving 85 per cent of the subsidy back are only getting 75 per cent, and those families who were getting 50 per cent, will only get 40 per cent.

 

Families rely on the subsidy for their week-to-week costs, and this 10 per cent tax will see them more than $2244 a year out of pocket.

 

$2244 is not pocket change for these families. It’s a massive hit to the hip pocket.

 

If families are lucky enough to fluke meeting the government’s criteria they will get back the money at the end of the financial year. Those families that get it wrong will simply lose money. 

Not only is the Turnbull Government’s unfair child care package going to leave 279,000 families worse off, it’s going to tax every family in the country that relies on early education and child care. Families can’t trust this out of touch Turnbull Government with early education and child care.
