New base station for Killingworth

Minister for Regional Communications, Senator Bridget McKenzie, has welcomed the activation of a new mobile base station at Killingworth in Victoria thanks to the Australian Government’s $220 million Mobile Black Spot Program.

 

The base station will deliver 21st century mobile coverage spanning the surrounding area, from Ghin Ghin, Molesworth, Homewood, Kerrisdale and parts of Limestone.

 

“I am thrilled to be delivering a new mobile base station in the community of Killingworth. It’s fantastic to see that residents and businesses in the surrounding region are now enjoying the benefits from this investment,” Minister McKenzie said.

 

“This new base station will boost connectivity like never before, allowing people to stay in touch and access the services they need, when they need it.”

 

“Reliable coverage will allow residents to connect with their families and provide greater peace of mind while commuting in the region. It will also ensure tourists can take full advantage of various services in the area.”

 

The Coalition Government is delivering real benefits to more Australians living in regional and remote areas every day, with the rollout of the program continuing to expand coverage across the country.

 

The Killingworth base station is one of three sites that have been switched on by the program in the Murrindindi Shire region, with another six on the way.

 

The Mobile Black Spot Program will deliver improved mobile coverage to a total of 867 blackspot locations around Australia across three rounds, with 470 base stations already switched on.

 

The base station rollout schedules for all three rounds of the program can be found on the Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone websites.
