GETTING BRIBIE RESIDENTS HOME SOONER AND SAFER
THE HON. MALCOLM TURNBULL MP
Bribie Island residents travelling to and from the Bruce Highway will get home sooner and safer with a $20 million upgrade to the busy Bribie Island Road.
The congestion-busting upgrade will enhance traffic flow and include upgrades to key intersections along the commuter stretch to ensure a smoother and safer drive to and from home.
It will also include traffic signaling and pavement widening at priority pinch points along the Bribie Island Road.
The Turnbull Government has committed to the upgrade after listening to the concerns of the community, who want faster, safer travel times as traffic on the road increases.
We thank LNP candidate for Longman Trevor Ruthenberg for his strong advocacy for the road upgrade and Liberal MP for Pumicestone Simone Wilson, who has fought strongly for the community.
Bribie Island Road is the region’s primary connection to the Bruce Highway, which received $3.3 billion in new investment in the Federal Budget and is a key priority of the Turnbull Government.
The upgrade will create more jobs for residents in Longman and surrounding areas to continue the record jobs growth Australia has enjoyed under the Coalition Government.
Upgrading key roads and ensuring faster travel times for commuters is only possible because of the stronger economy created by the Turnbull Government.
Our strong economy, growing on the back of more than 1 million new jobs,  ensures we can guarantee the essential services Australians rely on and build the roads and rail of the future.
The upgrade complements the Federal Government’s $10 billion commitment to the Bruce Highway Upgrade Program, including the additional $3.3 billion announced in the 2018-19 Budget.
The Bruce Highway Upgrade Program also includes $1.42 billion committed to upgrade the Pine River to Caloundra corridor, which intersects with Bribie Island Road and is the main road to Brisbane.
Each and every day, the Government is working to build better roads, to get Queenslanders home sooner and safer, whether it is the Bruce Highway from Brisbane to Cairns or the M1 from Brisbane to the Gold Coast.
