Support the Australian agriculture sector and share in $286,000 in grants

Don’t let this opportunity pass you by, with applications closing on 12 October 2018 for the 2019 Science and Innovation Awards for Young People in Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

 

Dr Kim Ritman, Chief Scientist at the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources today encouraged young innovators to apply.

 

The grants are aimed at 18 to 35 year old innovators, researchers, scientists and others active in the agriculture sector who have a passion for driving the ongoing success and sustainability of Australia’s agricultural, fisheries and forestry industries.

 

“I am encouraging potential applicants to start your application and ensure you don’t miss the closing date on 12 October 2018,” Dr Ritman said.

 

“If you have a project concept that provides an innovative solution or approach to a long standing industry issue, I encourage you to visit the website and discover more.

 

“Each year there are some exciting and challenging projects that are submitted ranging from improving animal welfare, addressing effective nutrient and water uptake in crops, managing pest and disease responses and improving grower returns on their product.

 

“There are 13 industry Science Award categories available this year, with each offering a grant of $22,000—this is too good of an opportunity to let slip.”

 

The categories include cotton, dairy, eggs and poultry (layers), established, new and emerging rural industries, fisheries and aquaculture, forest and wood products, grains, health and biosecurity, meat and livestock, pork, red meat processing, viticulture and oenology, and wool.

 

Each category is generously supported by the research and development corporations, CSIRO and industry organisations as the Science Award partners.
