Schools and preschools across the ACT will be transformed thanks to a $73 million funding boost from Federal Labor.
A Shorten Labor Government will invest an extra $57 million in ACT public schools over the first three years of Labor’s plan to deliver the biggest investment in public schools in Australian history.
Across the country we will deliver an extra $14 billion for Australian public schools over the next decade, with $3.3 billion extra flowing in the first three school years alone.
Labor’s extra investment in ACT public schools is the equivalent of hiring an additional 140 teachers or 240 teacher aides.
Children in the ACT will also benefit from Labor’s National Preschool and Kindy Program, which will invest $16 million to lock in ongoing funding for four year old preschool and extend the program to three year olds for the first time.
This is the biggest ever investment in early education for children. Under the Morrison Government, funding for the four year old preschool program ends at the end of next year.
Under Labor’s plan, from 2021, 9,000 three year olds and 10,000 four year olds in the ACT will be able to access 15 hours of subsidised care – each and every year.
The extra investment in schools and preschools will ensure every child in the ACT gets the education they need for the best start in life.

That’s why Labor is investing in 15 years of world class education for the next generation, from 3 and 4 year old preschool to year 12.
The Liberals reckon looking after their mates at the top end of town is more important than education funding.
Australians are sick of hearing the Liberals say they can’t afford to help schools and preschools while big business and millionaires get more and more.
Labor thinks it’s time for a government that will put our children first.
