MORE LIBERAL CLIMATE LIES FROM ‘L-PLATE’ MINISTER
MARK BUTLER MP
L-Plate Minister Melissa Price has had another train wreck interview - this time on RN Drive, where she claimed the Morrison government has the “right suite of policies” to bring down carbon pollution and tackle climate change.
Yet when presented with her own Government’s latest emissions data which show that greenhouse gas emissions climbed 1.3 per cent - to their highest quarterly levels in eight years - Ms Price said “I doubt anyone could pinpoint the day they can reduce. No one can pinpoint that.”
But her own Government’s data pinpoint that, under Scott Morrison’s hopeless climate change policies, carbon pollution will continue to rise all the way to 2030 (as far as the projections go).
As Tony Wood from the Grattan Institute said yesterday, ‘‘It remains a fact that we don’t have a climate change policy in this country.’’
The out of touch Morrison Government will never agree on a policy to reduce carbon pollution and tackle climate change while the hard-right of the Coalition calls the shots on energy policy. Instead, Energy Minister, Angus Taylor, is “absolutely considering” spending billions of taxpayers dollars on uninvestable “fair dinkum” new coal-fired power stations.
Australians deserve a Shorten Labor Government that will take action on climate change, and reduce carbon pollution in line with our 45 per cent emissions reduction target by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050. Labor will invest in a renewable energy future which will lower power prices and secure clean jobs.
