MORRISON AND FRYDENBERG AT ODDS OVER ECONOMY
CHRIS BOWEN MP
The Liberal Party is completely rudderless regarding its messaging as shown by Scott Morrison and Josh Frydenberg now being at odds about risks to the Australian economy.
According to Scott Morrison, there is now global economic ‘storm clouds’ brewing that threatens the Australian economy.
Before Christmas I warned about some of the global economic risks we face in the coming period.
Josh Frydenberg jumped on my speech and comments at the time and accused me of talking down the economy.
Does he now accuse Scott Morrison of the same thing?
The Australian people have every right to be confused about the Liberal Party given one minute they’re talking up the strength of the economy and the next minute talking about storm clouds brewing.
At MYEFO, the Treasurer had nothing to say about the global economic risks. This was despite MYEFO showing lower growth, investment and wages growth than what was forecast at Budget time.
We have seen at the last National Accounts and at MYEFO that we have a slowing Australian economy, with low wages growth and weak investment.
Unfortunately all we have for a national government and Prime Minister and Treasurer is an obsession with the Labor Party and a reckless failure to provide a vision or plan for the economy and country.
