2019 PRIME MINISTER’S VETERANS’ EMPLOYMENT AWARDS
Darren Chester MP
BUSINESSES from across the country have been recognised for their achievements in creating employment opportunities for veterans, with finalists of the 2019 Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Employment Awards announced today by Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Darren Chester.
Mr Chester said the Awards demonstrate the enormous contribution being made by veterans in civilian workplaces around Australia, and showcase the businesses which benefit from their unique experience, skills and leadership.
“We know that employing a veteran is good for businesses,” Mr Chester said.
“Veterans have a wealth of transferable skills and experience gained from their time serving and have so much to offer potential employers.
“This is demonstrated by the diverse range of businesses included in this year’s finalists, with large, medium and small businesses from right around Australia, across a range of industries and professions.
“We look forward to recognising the great work of organisations and individuals who are ensuring veterans can continue to build meaningful careers in the civilian workforce.
“I offer my congratulations to all of the finalists in these awards.”
For the first time this year, the awards will also recognise the entrepreneurial spirit of veterans in a category of Veteran Entrepreneur of the Year.
George Frazis, Chair of the Industry Advisory Committee on Veterans’ Employment, and Westpac Group Consumer Bank Chief Executive, noted the impressive entries from the Australian business community.
“The Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Employment Awards provide a platform to celebrate the individuals and businesses shaping the future of veteran employment,” Mr Frazis said.
