PRIME MINISTER ANSWERS LABOR’S CALL ON ELECTORAL SYSTEMS
GAI BRODTMANN MP
Labor welcomes the Prime Minister’s acknowledgement in today’s cyber security statement that:
“Australia’s democratic process is our greatest asset, our most critical piece of national infrastructure.”
For years, Labor has been calling on the Government to follow like-minded nations and formally designate electoral systems as critical infrastructure.
Unfortunately, until today, our calls have fallen on deaf ears.
Our electoral systems and infrastructure are the very foundation of our democracy, underpinning trust in the way we govern ourselves and our values.
Labor looks forward to the Government including electoral systems in our critical infrastructure framework, as a matter of urgency.
