Fitzgibbon distracts from dairy farmers’ pain
David Littleproud MP
Minister for Agriculture David Littleproud has slammed Labor’s wannabe Agriculture Minister Joel Fitzgibbon for distracting from the real issue, dairy farmers not being paid fairly for their milk.

Mr Fitzgibbon ignored the issue of dairy farmers not being paid enough for their milk and instead attacked Minister Littleproud for having 25 shares, which paid just $15 last year, in Woolworths.

“In 2017-18 my 25 shares returned $15.00 in dividends. That’s not even enough to buy one extra share,” Minister Littleproud said.

“My holding in Woolworths is currently $756.25 of the $40.2 billion Woolworths is worth.

“When I sold my shares in Woolworths before coming into Parliament, an automatic dividend reinvestment occurred, which gave me a tiny number of shares – 25.

“Joel Fitzgibbon says it doesn’t take a financial genius to realise me asking shoppers to buy where milk is sold for a fair price benefits Woolworths. But I just cost Woolworths an extra 10 cents a litre extra on milk.

“I have a strong record of bashing companies I hold shares in – Telstra, CBA and ANZ for example. Imagine if Labor MPs had the same record of bashing the unions they’re members of.

“If this is the contribution Joel Fitzgibbon brings to agriculture, he’s not fit to be Agriculture Minister and Labor is not fit to take Government.”
