PYNE’S VALLEY OF DEATH JUST GETS DEEPER AND DEEPER
THE HON RICHARD MARLES MP
Defence officials today confirmed what everyone in South Australia has known for some time: Christopher Pyne’s shipbuilding jobs promises aren’t worth a bean.
In 2017, Christopher Pyne promised “The valley of death is over and we are now seeing an upturn in employment in naval shipbuilding in our state that will only continue to increase.”
Since that time, 420 jobs have been cut at ASC alone.
Today, Defence officials testified there would be as many as “a couple of hundred” job losses to come this year.
This is the consequence of the Coalition reversing Labor’s commitment to build our new supply vessels in Australia and sending them to Spain instead.
The hundreds and hundreds of people who have lost their jobs despite Liberal promises know they just can’t trust any promises the Liberals make.
The trouble with making promises you can’t keep is they catch up with you – and people in South Australia will catch Christopher Pyne with these false promises at the ballot box in May.
