THE HON JULIE BISHOP MP

I would like to congratulate Julie Bishop on her outstanding contribution in the service of the people of Curtin, of Western Australia and our nation. 

 

Julie is highly regarded all around the world as one of the most outstanding Foreign Ministers of her time, having previously served with distinction in Education and Aged Care.

 

In particular, Julie was relentless in her pursuit of justice for the victims of MH17, a role for which she is widely respected globally.

 

She championed the New Colombo Plan in Opposition and implemented it in Government. The New Colombo Plan will establish lasting positive people to people relationships and connections across our region for generations to come.

 

Julie has provided dedicated service to her local Curtin community since she was first elected in 1998, championing her local businesses and advocating for her constituents to deliver economic reforms including working to address GST distribution.

 

As the most senior member of the Federal Liberal team from WA for many years and as Federal Deputy Leader for eleven years, Julie has been a mentor to many in our party and someone dedicated to promoting our liberal values for the success of Australia.

 

Julie will be missed in our Federal Parliament. Hayley and I wish Julie and David well for all their future endeavours.
