GOVERNMENT WEAK ON EXPLOITATION OF YOUNG AUSTRALIANS
BRENDAN O’CONNOR MP
Media reports this morning reveal the business that hosted 17 PaTH “interns” without hiring one had not received any communication by the government.
Yesterday at Senate Estimates, Department of Jobs and Small Business officials said they had sent a letter seeking to recover the $17,000 in public funds paid to the business to host PaTH “internship” placements.
According to media reports, the directors said they were not aware they owed the money until being contacted by a journalist yesterday.
If The New Daily could get the directors on the phone, why couldn’t the government?
The business confirmed that the 17 interns had worked more than 60 weeks.
That’s a lot of free labour.
This chaotic government is weak. The Liberals are failing young Australians.
