Barnaby Joyce dual-citizenship
SENATOR THE HON. DOUG CAMERON
Well good morning. It’s good to be back and we will have to wait and see whether Malcolm Turnbull shows any common sense and applies the same rules to Barnaby Joyce and other Ministers who are in the same position as Senator Canavan who stood aside.
This is a crazy proposition that we could have someone who is not eligible to sit in Parliament being the Acting Prime Minister. So these are really crazy things that are happening here, a Coalition that couldn’t get its act together to make sure people were properly credentialed to go into Parliament now in a position where they are trying to cling on to power by their fingernails.
JOURNALIST: The Prime Minister said this morning that Labor has essentially conceded that decisions made in Government forced higher gas prices relating to Santos and the LNG exports. Is that the case?
CAMERON: This is a government who has been there for nearly four years. This is a government who has been advised by experts that unless they put a proper target in place then prices will continue to rise.
This is a government who is so divided that they have not got a clean energy target in place, who are incapable of putting a clean energy target in place because of the division within the government. Because you have got climate change deniers in this government. You have got people who just don’t accept the science and they are the ones that are ruling the roost.
I remember Malcolm Turnbull saying at one stage that he would not lead a government that wasn’t serious about climate change. Well he is doing exactly that. He is not serious about climate change. He is completely under the control of the extremists in the Coalition.
They are the ones who can make the calls on power prices, they are the ones that are in government at the moment. They should be doing something about it but this is a Prime Minister so weak, so incapable of showing any leadership that he can’t do it.
