Defence Awards $15.9 million Innovation Boost to Australian Defence Industry

The Australian Government is continuing to invest in local defence industry to develop enhanced capability for Defence.

Three Australian businesses have been awarded Defence Innovation Hub contracts with a combined value of more than $15.9 million to develop their innovative technologies. 

The latest tranche of investments include a $5.7 million contract awarded to Adelaide-based Inovor Technologies, to deliver a prototype nanosatellite that will enhance space situational awareness.  This investment will continue to expand Defence’s growing space capability and has potential to contribute to supporting the global space surveillance network. 

Brisbane-based company EM Solutions has been awarded a $5.8 million contract to continue the development of a satellite communications systems for potential deployment in current and future Royal Australian Navy vessels. This projects aims to deliver a prototype communications antenna for testing and demonstration on Navy vessels.

A contract valued at almost $4.4 million has been awarded to Sydney-based SiNAB Pty Ltd, to develop a prototype Joint Terminal Attack Controller training solution that seeks to enhance the training capability of the Royal Australian Air Force. The training solution aims to improve operational agility through an integrated platform that enhances communications and is capable of being hosted across multiple aircraft.
The Defence Innovation Hub accepts proposals at all stages of innovation, from early concept exploration and testing through to advanced prototypes and evaluation.
