$40 BILLION IN SECRET CUTS HURT AUSTRALIANS?
CHRIS BOWEN MP
It’s been revealed by the Grattan Institute that the Liberals need to cut government spending by $40 billion a year by 2030 to pay for their tax handouts for the top end of town.
A $40 billion reduction in government spending is equivalent to:
A $40 billion reduction in government spending is equivalent to:
- Cutting all Federal funding for schools and hospitals in Australia for an entire year; or
- Cutting all childcare rebates for five years; or
- Cutting all funding for aged care for two years; or
- Cutting all funding for the NDIS for more than two years.
In fact, a $40 billion reduction in government spending is equivalent to cutting $4800 a year from every household in Australia.
Scott Morrison and the Liberals have spent six years cutting schools and hospitals and now they have a plan to cut even more from essential services Australians rely on.
Scott Morrison’s track record speaks for itself.
He’s cut $700m from hospitals, cut $14 billion from schools and cut $3 billion from TAFE – while trying to give big business a $80 billion tax handout.
The Liberals lie before elections, then they cut after elections – it’s exactly what Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull did and it’s exactly what Scott Morrison will do.
Why won’t Scott Morrison come clean and tell Australian families who’ll be hit by his $40 billion of secret cuts?
This election is choice between Labor’s plan for better schools and hospitals or bigger tax loopholes for the top end of town under the Liberals – paid for by bigger cuts to the services families rely on.
After six years of Liberal cuts and chaos, our united Labor team is ready to deliver a fair go for all Australians, not just the top end of town.
