MCKENZIE NEEDS TO EXPLAIN MOBILE BLACK SPOT
STEPHEN JONES MP
Labor calls on Bridget McKenzie to show she is not telling porkies to regional Australia about the Coalition’s regional communications policy.

On 7 May the Prime Minister said the following:

“We are committed to eliminating mobile blackspots across 1 million square kilometres of regional Australia by 2025”

There was no new funding commitment accompanying this statement.

An analysis of ANAO data suggests 1 million square kilometres could require an additional $150 million to $300 million in federal funding.

Minister McKenzie either needs to explain how the Coalition will deliver the commitment within current funding or explain how much this will add to the Liberals’ budget position.

Minister McKenzie must also explain whether the figure was formulated by her office or based on Departmental advice.

A failure to answer these questions will expose Minister McKenzie as a fraud who is making unfunded promises.

End the chaos. Vote for change. Vote for Labor.
