VALE COLIN CAMPBELL OAM

Australia’s Wine Industry has lost one of its most respected and inspirational leaders with the passing of Colin Campbell OAM. 

Colin was a giant of the industry and a much loved leader and winemaker. For many years Colin has been a member of the Small Winemakers Committee and a board member of the Winemakers’ Federation of Australia. 

In 2014 Colin was named the inaugural Victorian ‘Legend of the Vine’ by the Wine Communicators of Australia for his outstanding and lasting contribution to the wine industry and the industry at large. 

In 2016 he was awarded life membership of the Australian Wine Industry by the Winemakers’ Federation of Australia, College of Patrons.  

A fourth generation winemaker, Colin has many achievements to his name but none greater than his success in achieving worldwide recognition for his beloved Rutherglen Muscat. 

Colin was an effective and fierce advocate for the industry and I always appreciated his courteous and professional approach to his advocacy. 

On behalf of the Federal Opposition I extend appreciation for Colin’s many decades of service to the wine industry and extend our sympathies to his wife Prue, brother Malcolm, daughters Jane, Susie, Jules and the wider family.
