RE-APPOINTMENT AS SHADOW MINISTER FOR DEFENCE
RICHARD MARLES MP
It is a great privilege to be re-appointed as the Shadow Minister for Defence.
I look forward to continuing to work with Defence, and its institutions in ensuring Australia’s security interests are preserved, as well as the broader defence and national security community.
I will also continue to hold the government to account when it comes to supporting our domestic defence industry and the vital jobs it provides Australian workers.
On the important matter of our current serving defence personnel and those who have served in the past, I intend to again work constructively with the government on their welfare and wellbeing.
I pay my congratulations to Shayne Neumann MP on being appointed Shadow Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Defence Personnel, Pat Conroy MP on being appointed Shadow Minister Assisting for Defence and Matt Keogh MP on becoming Shadow Minister for Defence Industry.
I also look forward to continuing to work with Mike Kelly MP in his role as Shadow Assistant Minister for Defence and welcome the appointment of my fellow Victorian Tim Watts MP as Shadow Assistant Minister for Cyber Security.
I thank Anthony Albanese for the opportunity to continue to serve the Labor Party in this role.
