DETAILS NEEDED OF GAS DEAL
THE HON TONY BURKE MP
Scott Morrison must release details of today’s reports that Government may have agreed to a deal with Senator Rex Patrick for gas prices for Australian manufacturers and households to be cut to $5 a gigajoule.
Given how long manufacturers and households have been struggling with skyrocketing gas and electricity prices, the Government must come clean on the detail of its plans.
The Government must tell the public how this price will be achieved and how long it will take to achieve it.
The Government must also explain what it proposes to do if manufacturers find themselves unable to source gas at the promised price.
Three manufacturers have already had to close down because of unaffordable gas prices, and according to the ACCC the cost of gas is threatening the viability of many more.
Manufacturers and households have had enough of empty promises and unsubstantiated claims. The Coalition must provide clear details on how it will deliver affordable gas.
