Strengthening cyber security at Australian universities
THE HON DAN TEHAN MP
The vice-chancellors of Australia’s universities will receive a high-level cyber security briefing from the Australian Government’s lead agency on cyber security.
Minister for Education Dan Tehan has invited an expert from the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) to update universities on the latest cyber security risks and to provide advice on strengthening their cyber security.
“Universities have a responsibility to their students and staff to have the strongest defences in place to protect the information they hold,” Mr Tehan said.
“Universities are high value targets for malicious cyber attackers because of the valuable intellectual property and personal information they hold.
“The ASD are experts in cyber security and can provide the guidance to ensure our universities are taking action to ensure their cyber security.
“Every Australian who is online should be proactive about taking steps to protect their cyber security and that includes at our universities.”
