More support for child care services in vulnerable communities
THE HON DAN TEHAN MP
Vulnerable children will continue to access much-needed child care with the Morrison Government supporting providers in areas of high need and regional and remote Australia.
The Morrison Government is providing more than $7 million to 75 child care providers in disadvantaged areas to improve access for families through the Community Child Care Fund (CCCF) open program.
Minister for Education Dan Tehan said the Morrison Government had now provided more than $120 million to 800 providers over five years to support more families to access child care through the CCCF open program.
“Our Government is providing a record investment of $8.6 billion for child care this year and we are ensuring that as many Australian families as possible access child care services,” Mr Tehan said.
Grants of up to $200,000 are available through the CCCF open program, which is part of the Government’s Child Care Safety Net.
“Our funding will help local centres to cover day-to-day costs, offer transport assistance to isolated families and create additional places.”
Mr Tehan said following a review of the CCCF restricted program, the Morrison Government would also provide $207 million to ensure the ongoing operation of 157 early education and child care providers in remote and Indigenous communities over five years.
“This means more hard-working families who live in communities where access to quality, reliable child care is not guaranteed can take advantage of our Child Care Subsidy to work, learn or volunteer.
“Our Child Care Subsidy has reduced out-of-pocket child care costs for families by more than 7.9 per cent.”
