FLU VAX LISTING WELCOME AS WAITLIST GROWS
CHRIS BOWEN MP
Labor welcomes the Government’s announcement to list the flu vaccine for children aged six months to five years old on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme after it was approved by the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee.
It’s now time for the Minister to get on with listing the more than 60 drugs that have been recommended by the PBAC but not yet listed.
The fact is the Minister has an average wait time of over six months for new listings, making those in need wait. This waitlist includes the 18 major drug submissions that the Minister hasn’t listed.
Greg Hunt likes to pat himself on the back in the media with every listing. He is also accountable for every drug that he refuses to list.
Greg Hunt needs to stop the delays on PBS listings, and start treating Australian patients with respect.
Under this Government, health out of pocket costs and waiting lists are at record highs.
