MINISTER DOESN’T EVEN WANT TO TALK ABOUT PRESCHOOL, LET ALONE FUND IT
AMANDA RISHWORTH MP
At the COAG Education Council meeting today, the Minister for Education did not deem funding for preschool worthy of discussion.

There was no discussion of long-term funding certainty for four year old preschool, or the possibility of extending funding to three year olds.

The Minister has justified the lack of funding certainty for preschools in the past because “this Government wants to talk to State and Territory Governments about attendance. It is incredibly important. We want to make sure that, when we are investing, we are going to get the best outcomes that we possibly can”.

It is incredibly important according to the Minister - yet not worthy of discussion when sitting down with all the State and Territory Education Ministers.
