CHILD CARE FEES UP 30 PER CENT UNDER THIS GOVERNMENT
AMANDA RISHWORTH MP
The Government’s latest quarterly data (March 2019) has been released, and it confirmed what we already know to be true – child care fees are still going up.

The Minister can hand-pick statistics all he likes, but the truth is families are continuing to pay more for child care and his Government’s own data shows it.

The cost of long day care – the type of child care most people use – has increased yet again to $14,328 per year. When the Liberals were elected, families paid on average $11,016 a year.

That is a staggering 30 per cent increase in child care fees since the election of the Liberals.

At a time when cost of living is increasing and wages are stagnating, families are being crippled under ever-increasing child care fees.

The truth of the matter is, this Government’s new child care system has failed at putting downward pressure on fees and the Government is failing to address the problem.

The Government must act to deliver affordable, accessible and high quality early education and care for all Australian families.
