WHO DOES SCOTT MORRISON THINK HE’S FOOLING?
JOEL FITZGIBBON MP
Farmers and drought stricken rural communities will be disappointed by the Prime Minister’s latest inadequate drought announcement.
It’s far too little too late. It’s a band aid approach which missed the mark.
The Prime Minister insults farmers and rural communities every time he talks about his “$7 billion” drought package because they know that it’s a fiction. There is no $7 billion package, the farmers know that so who does he think he’s fooling?
The test for the Prime Minister today was:-
1. To admit the Government’s ad hoc and delayed response over 6 years has failed our farmers;
2. To demonstrate he now understands that more strategic and comprehensive policy is needed;
3. To release the report of the Drought Coordinator, Major General Stephen Day; and
4. To commit to not taking Farm Household Allowance off farming families who have been on the payment for 4 years.
Scott Morrison failed every test today. Our farmers and rural communities remain his forgotten people.
