MORRISON LOOSE WITH THE TRUTH ON FUTURE DROUGHT FUND
JOEL FITZGIBBON MP
The Prime Minister today admitted to being loose with the truth on his Future Drought Fund.

Scott Morrison has admitted that the Future Drought Fund will not deliver one cent to farming families devastated by drought. Not this year, not next year, never.

In response to my question in Parliament yesterday, the Prime Minister said:
“The Future Drought Fund is not to provide direct financial assistance payments to farmers. It’s there to provide direct support for water resilience projects to plan for the future.”

His admission exposes his claim that he’s spending $7 billion assisting drought-affected farming families. He is spending nothing like that and he should come clean.

The Prime Minister has perpetrated a cruel hoax on Australia’s farming community. His $7 billion claim has brought false hope to many who are struggling.

It’s a cruel blow coming on top of his decision to allow 600 farming families to be cut-off from their modest Farm Household Allowance.

It also follows his admission that he misled the Australian community on Sunday when he announced he was providing the NSW Government with fifty percent of funding to progress new dam projects when in fact, half of the money will be allocated in the form of repayable loans.

More Australians are coming to learn that our Prime Minister is loose with the truth.
