WHY IS MORRISON IGNORING REGIONAL QUEENSLAND INFRASTRUCTURE?
ANTHONY ALBANESE MP
Scott Morrison needs to urgently bring forward infrastructure spending to boost the sluggish economy, particularly in Regional Queensland.

The IMF have today joined the call for the Morrison Government to provide fiscal stimulus and invest in infrastructure to support our economy and improve productivity.

We know there are many projects across Regional Queensland that are funded off on the never never.

Scott Morrison could today announce fast tracking of a range of projects across Regional Queensland, including:
  • Mackay Ring Road Stage Two;
  • Cairns Southern Access Stage 5;
  • Rockhampton Ring Road;
  • Cunningham Highway Upgrade; and
  • Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade.
Labor urges Scott Morrison to end the hubris and work with the Queensland Government to bring forward projects to stimulate jobs and improve productivity.

Last Friday, Josh Frydenberg said the Queensland Government was the only State to formally respond to the Government’s request for projects that can be brought forward.

Yet almost a week later, Scott Morrison has failed to announce a single project in Regional Queensland will be brought forward.

Scott Morrison is not listening and not acting.

The failure to fast track infrastructure in Regional Queensland is further evidence the Morrison Government does not have a plan to stimulate an economy that is floundering on its watch.
