Celebrating Australia’s hardworking teachers
THE HON DAN TEHAN MP
Today is World Teachers’ Day and we pay tribute to all hardworking teachers right around Australia for their tireless contribution towards education, helping learners of all ages.
“Australia’s teachers work hard to ensure their students have every opportunity to reach their full potential,” Mr Tehan said.
“Teachers are the lifeblood of school communities and the Australian Government is committed to ensuring they have more time to focus on what matters most, teaching their students.
“The Australian Government is committed to making sure that teachers and school leaders are free from excessive red tape, giving them more time to focus on teaching their students.”
The Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) will undertake a review of the compliance and regulation that teachers and school leaders face to be considered by COAG’s Education Council in 2020.
“We also want to address the issue of violence, abuse and intimidation faced by teachers and school leaders, they all deserve a safe and supportive workplace.”
AITSL will also develop a national strategy to address abuse of teachers and school leaders in our schools.
The Government has committed around $2 million to examine ways to address the issues of red tape and abuse of our teachers and school leaders.
