STILL NO PERTH CITY DEAL
ANDREW GILES MP
Alan Tudge yesterday failed to announce a signed Perth City Deal - more than 18 months after announcing a Memorandum of Understanding.
While it is pleasing that there is progress towards an agreement between the Western Australian Government and Federal Government, it seems Alan Tudge is always the partner on the back foot.
In August, stakeholders claimed the Perth City Deal was at a 12 month standstill.
If Alan Tudge was on top of things, the deal should have been already signed.
A recent Smart Cities Council letter perfectly summed up Alan Tudge’s approach to Cities policy as “significantly lacking – in leadership, programmatic work and most importantly, funding”.
Alan Tudge’s failure to finalise a Perth City Deal follows news today that not one Western Australian Urban Congestion Fund project announced during the May 2019 election will be delivered in a Labor-held electorate.
Alan Tudge is all talk and no action when it comes to delivering infrastructure. He’s treating Western Australia as an after-thought.
