EMISSIONS CONTINUING TO GO UP UNDER ANGUS TAYLOR

This week has gone from bad to worse for Scott Morrison and his embattled Emissions Reduction Minister Angus Taylor.
Angus Taylor can’t do his day job and the Prime Minister can’t hide from the data – carbon emissions continue to rise under this Government.
According to the Department of Environment and Energy’s latest accounts, "national emissions for the June quarter 2019 were unchanged relative to the previous quarter, on a seasonally adjusted and weather normalised basis, but increased by 0.3 per cent in trend terms.”
It’s no surprise given Angus Taylor is too focused on picking political fights with local councils to deliver a credible national climate change policy. This Government’s only plan is to waste an additional $2 billion, on top of the $2.5 billion already spent on Tony Abbott’s failed climate policy which has only ever seen emissions rise.
Australians have come to expect this from a Government that is not serious on taking real action on climate change. The Liberals record on climate speaks for itself:

- Carbon emissions have been continuously rising since 2014 after coming down by more than 10 per cent during the last Labor Government.
- The Government’s own data shows carbon emissions rising all the way to 2030, missing the Government’s inadequate 26 per cent emission reduction target by 19 per cent.
