NEW ANALYSIS CONFIRMS PBS LISTINGS CUT IN 2019
CHRIS BOWEN MP
New analysis today from Pharma in Focus has confirmed a reduction of new Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme listings by the Morrison Government by almost 40 per cent in 2019.

Minister Hunt constantly claims a “record number of PBS listings”, but the truth is very different.

Only 17 new drugs were added to the PBS in 2019, down from 28 in 2018.

This means Australians have access to less new drugs than they did in 2018.

The recent Final Budget Outcome confirmed an underspend of $155 million on the PBS.

This Government is constantly trying to pull the wool over Australians’ eyes with their claims of 2200 PBS listings.

At Senate Estimates in October, the Department of Health confirmed the Morrison Government is adding new medicines to the PBS at a rate ten times less than the Minister tries to spin.

Under this Government, health out of pocket costs and waiting lists are at record highs.

Greg Hunt claims improving access to medicines is one of his four pillars of health.

But the reality is, when it comes to the PBS, this Minister is just loose with the truth.
