VISIT TO INDONESIA
SENATOR THE HON MARISE PAYNE
I will visit Indonesia from 4 to 6 December to take part in the Bali Democracy Forum and hold talks with counterparts including Foreign Minister H.E. Retno Marsudi.
On Thursday, I will attend the 12th Bali Democracy Forum, an important initiative by Indonesia that brings together countries to discuss the advancement of democratic values.
The focus of this year’s Bali Democracy Forum – Women’s Leadership, Inclusion and the State of Democracy – is timely. I will take part in a panel with fellow women Foreign Ministers to discuss human rights, resilient and inclusive societies, gender equality and women’s representation.
On Friday, I will meet with Minister Marsudi to discuss progress on strengthening our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Defence Minister Linda Reynolds and I will then hold the 2019 Australia-Indonesia 2+2 Foreign and Defence Ministers’ meeting with Minister Marsudi and the Minister for Defence, H.E. Prabowo Subianto.
While in Bali I will also meet with other Foreign Ministers from across the region, as well as Australian and Indonesian business leaders to discuss growing people-to-people and trade ties.
