MORRISON MUST WALK THE WALK ON ROBODEBT APOLOGY
BILL SHORTEN MP
Scott Morrison’s qualified apology over his illegal Robodebt scheme comes five years too late.

In those five years the Government attempted to steal $1.5b from the Australian people.

In those five years parents have lost their adult children who have taken their lives due to the pressure of falsified Government debt claims.

In those five years countless lives have been worsened by bad credit ratings and the looming strain of a dispute with Government.

But if Mr Morrison is genuinely sorry about this terrible saga he should commit to immediately repaying identified victims – not make them wait up to 12 months.

And if Mr Morrison is genuinely sorry he should immediately pledge not to revive or reboot Robodebt in any form and rule out hounding existing victims in the future.

These are the actions that indicate genuine regret and remorse.

Without these actions, Mr Morrison’s qualified apology is simply a bit of marketing, full of sound but signifying nothing.
