UNIONS AND EMPLOYERS JOIN TOGETHER TO CALL FOR AVIATION PLAN
TONY BURKE MP
The joint letter released today by unions and employers in the aviation sector once again highlights the dangers posed to this essential industry by the Morrison Government’s inaction.
Australia is a big country far from much of the world – we are reliant on our aviation sector to travel for work, to visit family, and to bring to our country foreign tourists, business travellers and students.
Beyond that, the aviation industry supports tens of thousands of Australian workers in communities across the country.
As we come out of this crisis, we will be reliant on our aviation industry, but necessary border closure mean that without sustained support the future of the sector will be put at risk.
The Morrison Government needs to urgently come up with a plan for aviation, providing the sector with the confidence it needs as it moves through this crisis.
If no support is provided, we will undoubtedly see more job losses over coming months and the flight routes that communities across regional Australia rely on will be put at risk.
Every job lost or route cut will be the direct result of Scott Morrison’s inaction.
