PM CAN’T KEEP HIDING FROM HIS CAR PARK RORTS RESPONSIBILITY
ANDREW GILES MP
Now that Scott Morrison has emerged from his stay at the Lodge, he must take responsibility for the train-wreck that is his car park rorts scandal.
The damning Auditor-General’s report into the fiasco that is the commuter car parks program was released on Monday.
However, despite it pointing directly to the involvement of the Prime Minister and his office, in a troubling echo of sports rorts, he is yet to account for himself and his conduct.
He must.
Labor today calls on Mr Morrison to:
- Face the media and come clean about his role, and produce the secret spreadsheets at the heart of this scandal; and
- Discipline the ministers responsible - or demonstrate that his ministerial standards aren’t worth the paper they’re written on.
On 2 February last year Mr Morrison said this:
‘Minister McKenzie has shown a great respect for the statement of standards. She has honoured those, that statement of standards in the decision that she has taken today by offering her resignation to me this afternoon.’
It says everything about this hollow marketing man that sports rorter Senator McKenzie was returned to his cabinet yesterday.
Australians deserve better.
Labor won’t rest until we’ve got to the bottom of this scandal, which really is sports rorts on an industrial scale.
