MORRISON GOVERNMENT ONLY INTERESTED IN TALKING TO ITSELF
ANDREW GILES MP
After the damning ANAO report into the commuter car park program found that the Morrison government failed to consult with councils and state governments, it has now been revealed that the hand picked expert panel the Cities Reference Group hasn’t met since February 2019.
As our cities have been transformed by COVID-19, the Morrison government couldn’t even be bothered having a zoom meeting with its own expert advisory body, answers to questions in senate estimates reveal.
Maybe this is why they’ve paid massively over the odds for the very few car parks actually being built?
Maybe this is why car parks were promised that could never have been built?
Whenever the Morrison government needs advice- they look in the mirror, they look to their mates and they look for some polling.
Commuters, and communities don’t get a look in.
The Minister continues to maintain ‘alternative facts’ - that car park decisions were based on need and evidence.
But the only need in evidence is the Liberals desperation to hold onto power.
And the only evidence we can see is the electoral pendulum.
When will the Morrison government come clean about car park rorts, and when will they stop treating Australians in the suburbs with contempt?
