SCOTT MORRISON’S ONE BILLION TREES PROMISE FELLED WITH NO FUNDING DELIVERED
Julie Collins MP
The Morrison-Joyce Government’s promise to plant one billion trees has been exposed as a sham with new evidence revealing not one dollar of funding has been delivered to help meet the target.

Answers to questions in the Senate reveal the concessional loan program set-up to help meet the target is yet to even open after the Morrison-Joyce Government promised $500 million for it before the last election.

This is yet another major failure from Scott Morrison and just goes to show he is always about the announcement and never the delivery.

This failure is particularly outrageous given Australians across the country face growing timber shortages.

These timber shortages threaten Australia’s construction industry and the jobs it supports across the country.

The Morrison-Joyce Government has talked a big game on housing construction but its failures on timber shortages show it doesn’t care enough.

The Minister responsible for this mess yesterday conceded the Morrison-Joyce Government was a ‘long way off’ meeting the goal but offered nothing but blame to explain the failure.

Instead of again pushing the Morrison-Joyce Government’s failures onto the states and territories, the Minister should be showing leadership.

It is time for the Morrison-Joyce Government to start delivering on its promises or timber shortages will only grow more dire.
